Long Arm Machine Techniques

Art & Stitch works with all computerized quilting systems. Bring your laptop and follow along as you learn to design your own custom quilting patterns. You'll learn to use the powerful automatic features of the software, as well as creating original designs by tracing or using a design concept of your own. To achieve maximum benefit from this class be sure that you have updated to Version 4.2. You may download a trial version from the Art & Stitch website.

Have you admired those "Dream Big" panels on social media and want to learn how to do one? Here's your chance! Quilters' Haven has them available and we have created a class just for you. You will learn how to audition designs, select thread, and plan out your design to make your creation a reality.

The magic begins when you learn patterns beyond the basic stipple. We will explore a variety of meandering patterns that will become as easy for you to do as your stippling is now. We will cover thread selection, scale, density and working across the quilt. Come prepared to practice designs with a white board, markers and eraser.

Vicki will demonstrate how to load a quilt and share machine quilting tips for the beginning machine quilter. We will explore various quilting tools, adjusting bobbin and top thread tension, and machine maintenance to keep your machine operating in peak performance. If you are new to your long arm or considering purchasing a machine, this class is for you!

In this class we will explore using rulers, stencils, and grids to create backfills that help bring other motifs to the forefront. This class will cover thread choice, marking techniques, embellishing stencils, and how to use rulers to create straight lines on grids as a design element, or curved cross hatching.

Pantographs are a wonderful way to explore edge to edge quilting and this class will help you explore how to adjust the pantograph and laser light to get you started on your journey. We will explore how to advance the fabric and keep your pattern lined up perfectly row to row, ways to embellish your pantograph, and even how you might be able to create a design and turn it into a pantograph.
